Happy Halloween from the Road!

W and I have been on a work trip for the last 12 days and won't be returning home for another 7 days for a grand total of 19 days on the road living out of a hotel.  This is the longest I have had him away from home, but he seems to be handling it very well.

One thing I could not forgive myself for is missing W's first Halloween, so on Saturday I took him to a Halloween parade I had to be at for work.  Following the parade we handed out candy with my candidate at his house.  He looked so cute dressed up as a little lion.  Here is a back view of my little guy.
Hopefully I will have a better picture to post tomorrow.

Yesterday I had to work 13 hours and didn't make it back to the hotel until 9:30 thanks to the wintry mix I had the pleasure of driving through in the mountains.  When I got to the hotel W was already sleeping.  Last night was the first night that I didn't get to nurse West to bed. It made me so sad and made it all the more real that he is growing up and won't be nursing much longer.  He did wake up at 3am and not want to go back to sleep until he got to nurse and that made me feel better. I ended up letting him sleep in bed with me the rest of the night (that would be working mommy guilt).  I really did enjoy snuggling with him after being away all day. I think I need that catch up time just as much if not more than him.

Time to get things started!

I know there are a TON of working mom blogs out there, but somehow, I hope mine will be somewhat different and unique.  I am a working mom.  I work in politics (specifically on political campaigns).  My job requires me to put in long days and travel.  My son is only 11 months old, but this past year I have managed to take him with me on every work trip I have taken with the help of my wonderful mother.

My son, W, and I took our first work trip when he was 9 weeks old.  We took a five hour car ride to work with a candidate.  On our way we picked up my mother and she watched my little guy while I worked.  On top of the travel I am also still nursing my sweet boy and let me tell you traveling and pumping is a job all in of itself!
